Back in the whiskey hut, there was an older man, sharing stories of how Great Forks came to be. He could tell it with extreme detail! Some of the Black Axe monks had a performance, of their Martial Arts, as well, which caused quite the crowd. Us included, of course.
After the martial performance, the hut died down more and more, we fixed lodging with the hut.
The next morning we were awakened by one of the Black Axe Brotherhood monks, who was there to recruit Dyvim into their order. They had a temple in Great Forks, and knew we where going there. Dyvim figured it could be a good way to get lodging, I believe. He inspected Dyvim, and brought him along for the tests.
Viper woke up about at that time. She looked very green, a feeling I could relate to, now. And said that she would be.. ehr.. busy, for the day, until we where to leave.
Harkon seemed to be amusing himself by speaking to the barkeep, so i decided to refill my waterskin, after giving most of it to Viper. At the well, I met up with some people, who inquired regarding my limp. I said as it was, hunting accident, aligator. (“And they believed it?”, Ralph bursted out in surprise. “No… I don’t think so.”, Leesa replied. “In retrospect, it is a very unreasonable thing to expect people to believe, isn’t it?”)
I returned to the hut, and after a bit Dyvim had returned. He didn’t look very happy, but he did have a bone scrool, that he did not have before, which was his letter of recommendation. Yes, indeed. Dyvim had cleared the challenges. He was also hurt. At the time I was still upset and confused regarding Dyvim, but I said passionatly; “Dyvim, you’re hurt!”, and started tending to his wound directly. It was an odd wound, full of splinters. Being both angry with myself for my weakness, and with Dyvim, I may have poked a bit more then I strictly needed to. But something had stirred within me, My brain was filled with questions that had no answer. (“What did you realize?”, Bo said, with a confused look. “Shhh! Let her finish!”, Linda replied, punching Bo on the arm. “Hey! That was uncalled for!”, Bo replied angryily. “Settle down, you two.”, Leesa said with a firm voice. “All in good time. Now.. Where was I?”)
The barkeep offered some ricewine, to help disinfect the wound for Dyvim. And about as I was finished with it, the caravan had started packing. We went to help as best as we could. We where allowed to keep our stuff inside one of the carts.
I went to fetch Viper. Who was.. releaving herself of last nights festivities. Very graphic at explaining things that one. Shortly there after the packing was finished, and we where simply waiting for one of the senior guards, who had forgotten his helmet at his lady-friends house. As he rejoined the caravan, we set out.
The guard who was late earlier started talking to me during our walking. He introduced himself as Conway. He was being very curtious and kind. Inquired about my limping leg, as well. I mentioned that I was in a hunting accident. He offered to speak to Master Shun, and arrange so i could travel inside the cart. As he went off to ask him, Viper came up to me, and said that the guard was doing something, I couldn’t understand the words, as she said them in Riverspeak. When I asked about it, she gave me a very graphical reply, that he was hitting on me.
As he returned, I mentioned to him that I was married, he seemed very surprised about this, and I apologised for misunderstanding. I had been given permision to sit inside the cart, and upon entering, I met with Marissa. Marissa was master Shun’s slave. At the time I had barely heard of slavery, and I had only heard the word a few times spoken in riverspeak. But I spoke to her at length, she seemed very happy to have some company. She was very surprised that I was kind to her. This made me sad, but she seemed to have her head high, so left it at that. After a bit we stopped, and I left the cart, with X, as he had agreed to teach me how to read and write Riverspeak. I spent the majority of the evening learning from him. Then I went to join Dyvim and the others, as X was heading for Marissa. As I approached Dyvim grabbed me, and say me down in his lap. This shocked me, for a moment I forgot all the bad things that Dyvim had done, and all I could think that I was happy to be close to him. This was very confusing, but it was then that I fully realized. (“You…”, some of the girls giggled . “She what?”, asked a confused Ralph. “That’s right, some how. Dispite everything that happened, I had fallen for Dyvim. Strange, no?”, Leesa said with a smile, gazing at the midnight sky.) There mood seemed to be quite mellow, so I tried tried my best to lift it, but regardless of what I tried, I couldn’t do much. Conversations died out, and people started going to sleep. I sat down from Dyvims lap, and went to sleep. It was a very confused night. My Dreams lept between Dyvims charming side, all the negative things he had done, and always a Blood Ape here and there, just incase I forgot, even for a second.
The next morning we pack up, and we set off. I was walking today. Conway asked if I would not rather stay in the cart again today. After a bit we stopped, due to a foul smell, that was coming from corpses. Harkon, Dyvim and a guard went to take care of it. I went into the cart as in order to clean and re-bandage the leg. As I re-bandaged my leg, Marissa saw the wound, and was surprised to hear that an aligator caused it, She seemed to believe me, at least. They had some Rot Eaters, that I was able to purchase. They help with removing the dead flesh, Helping against infection. Outside people picked up the pace, as we only had a few days ’til Calibration, and we needed to arrive to Great Forks before that, of course. Me and Marissa spoke some more. Until we arrived at a statue of the Unconquered Sun. It was a sight to behold, I tell you… It looked like brass, shiny and clean. It was if the his eyes was constantly watching you. truly divine, in every sense of the word. There were two furtrappers there. A father and his daughter. Regardless, we set up camp, and some of the men where talking about the furtrappers daughter….
